Career Journey:
Camilla Sloan is the Reception Manager at The PIG at Bridge Place, a luxurious hotel and restaurant, which celebrates its rural location, Kentish produce and sustainable credentials.
Camilla’s career began at the age of 16 as a waitress in her local village pub in Cornwall. At 18 she moved to Canterbury for university, but continued to work in food and hospitality, working at the Fenwick café, Pork & Co and The Wife of Bath all while studying. Once she graduated, she started working at The PIG hotels, taking up the role of Breakfast Supervisor, before being promoted to Restaurant Supervisor in September 2021. The next year she moved over to the reception team, before being offered a change of scenery and the chance to cover the role of Assistant Restaurant Manager at the PIG at Combe for three months. Once she returned to Bridge Place, she took up the role of Assistant Restaurant Manager, before taking up her current role as Reception Manager.
Key Skills and Expertise:
As Camilla has had the opportunity to work in both the restaurant and house teams, her skills are varied, and she has also had some great opportunities to get involved in wider projects for the company. At the heart of all her roles communication, patience, kindness and trust have been key, while learning to multi-task has set her in good stead for her career.
