Gavin Kean has been with Chapel Down for 14 years, beginning his career as an actor while pursuing his growing interest in the world of wine. He started as a part-time tour guide in 2011, balancing his acting commitments with his newfound passion for English wine tourism. In 2012, Gavin transitioned to a full-time role as Tours Supervisor, where he refined his skills in guest engagement and operational planning. Over the years, he moved up the ranks, becoming Customer Services Manager, Tourism Manager, and, most recently, Brand Home Manager in 2025. Gavin now oversees all tourism operations and cellar door sales, continuing to contribute to Chapel Down’s rise as a key player in Kent’s tourism industry.

He has also had the privilege of hosting Her Majesty Queen Camilla and guiding wine experts such as Oz Clarke OBE through the winery.

His role offers him the opportunity to create memorable experiences, from guiding international guests through the winery to organising unique events, such as vineyard proposals. Gavin is passionate about showcasing Kent’s countryside and helping elevate the region as a leading tourism destination. For him, the most rewarding aspect is connecting with people and inspiring them to explore more of what Kent has to offer.
